So It Begins

I would like to use this first post to introduce myself, and perhaps layout a rough landscape for what I hope to accomplish with this blogging site. I am a Registered Nurse. I started my career in healthcare 12 or 13 years ago as a Patient Care Tech while in a traditional 2 year Associate Degree of Nursing program. I obtained my Licensed Practical Nurse certification after 1 year, and then opted to finish my Registered Nursing license online while I worked as a LPN. I went on to finish my Bachelors degree of Nursing online after a couple of years working as an RN. My work experience has been 100% acute care/hospital based. I have worked throughout the hospital environment including Emergency Room, Med/Surge, Oncology, Telemetry, Step Down Unit, and ICU/Cardiovascular ICU.

The hope for this website is simply that, to lend a little of said knowledge, and in return gain knowledge from others. I have not indulged myself in website building, layouts and the like for a very long time. I decided to give it a run in the hopes of building up a new skill, while also learning and sharing with others. I hope to spend time laying out my thoughts on the profession, how to go about getting into the profession, and how to avoid the pitfalls of finding yourself in over your head. I would like to develop a forum for others to discuss their experiences as well! I have also created a twitter account and am working to figure out how post articles that are relevant to nursing, and the healthcare industry as a whole, to the website.

To conclude I would like to thank you for stopping by. The site is going to be a continual work in progress, and I hope you will continue to check in and take a look around!
